Social Networking and Web 2.0 to enable student participation in the sustainability journey

At the end of last term I set up a ning social network to enable the students to communicate with each other regarding sustainability issues at Bishop Challoner. I have recently made some really good contacts to help us realise this idea, one Dave Briggs of Dave Press who has given great advice on starting up a social network and contacts to a wealth of interesting information regarding social change and the living web (web 2.0). I intend to start an after school class this term following his advice and really give the students ownership of the project...or anything similar on any of the platforms that they might fancy (Bebo Myspace etc).
